Barisal Press Club gen secy critically injured by miscreants

A local journalist who is the general secretary of Barisal Press Club sustained serious injuries in an attack by local miscreants in Barisal city early Tuesday. The victim is Pulok Chatterjee, Barisal Bureau Chief of The Daily Samakal, a national vernacular daily newspaper, and also the general secretary of the press club. Police and witnesses said Pulok came under attack by a gang of identified miscreants on the way to his residence in the city’s Kalibaria area around 12:30am on Tuesday. The miscreants chopped him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him injured in the head, hands and legs. Critically injured, Pulok was admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital, according to a news agency.
