Opener Shahriar Nafees, who couldn't find a place in the ODI squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour, hit a century as Barisal Division scored 264 for 9 in 90 overs in the 1st innings against Chittagong Division on the first day of the 6th round four-day match of the Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 9th National Cricket League, reports UNB
Batting first at the Bir Shreshtho Shaheed Ruhul Amin Stadium in Chittagong Tuesday, skipper Nafees hit his first ton of the ongoing League scoring 108 runs off 141 balls with 16 fours while middle order Raisul Islam made 40 off 113 balls with three boundaries.
Middle order Raqibul Hasan contributed 24, Humayun Kabir 23 and opener Imran Ahmed 12 runs to take the Chittagong 1st innings total to cross 250.
Sajedul Islam and Tariqul remained unbeaten on 8 and 7 at stumps on the first day today.
Right-arm pacer Tareq Aziz Khan and Kamrul Islam claimed three wickets each for 77 and 83 runs respectively. Faisal Hossain Dickens, Saju Datta and Yasin Arafat took one wicket apiece.
In another match at the Bir Shreshtho Matiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna, three useful half centuries from opener Nazmus Sadat, Mustafizur Rahman and middle order Tushar Imran helped Khulna Division to post 239 for 7 in 90 overs in their first innings against holders Dhaka Division.
Number three Mustafiz scored the innings highest 62 runs off 94 balls with nine boundaries while opener Sadat made 61 off 133 balls with five fours. Tushar Imran, who kept his place in the national squad for the ensuing New Zealand tour, contributed 54 runs with three fours.
