Barrister Rafiq floats new organisation

A new organisation, styled Nagarik Andolan, was floated Monday, aiming to promote democracy and human rights in the country. The organisation was formally launched through a press conference at the National Press Club with elderly Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Rafiqul Huq as its convenor and Mahmudur Rahman Manna member-secretary. Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and Bangabir Kader Siddiqui, among others, were present at the press conference and welcomed the new organisation. The convening committee also includes columnist Dr Shahdhin Malik, Dr Dilara Chowdhury, Syed Abul Maksud and film actor Elias Kanchan. - UNB
