BBS Cables launched Monday its high quality lead-free electric wires with an aim to ensure conductivity, safety and reliability. "The aim of the present government is to provide logistic and infrastructural support to the private sector while opening new industrial units," industries minister Dilip Barua said as he addressed the launching ceremony held in the city. The new cables manufacturing unit will create a new era in the country's business sector, especially in the shipbuilding sector, he added. President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) AK Azad attended the function as the special guest. The FBCCI president said the government should handover loss-incurring state-owned mills such as Pakshi Paper Mill to the private sector to make them profitable and create employment. He also requested the government to remove bureaucratic tangles and corruption from the government's offices as the businessmen face problems in getting trade license and TIN number. "A businessman never wants to evade taxes but he is forced to do so," he said, adding industrialists are over-headed with an additional 10 per cent cost which forces them to dodge taxes. Speaking on the occasion, BBS Cables managing director Abu Noman Howlader said, "Electricity consumption is increasing and thus the demand of electric cables is growing rapidly." The company started its operation to meet the growing demand ensuring the best quality and safety, he said. "We will be able to export our cables to the international market soon besides meeting local demand," he added.
