BASF to build up globally largest MDI plant in Chongqing

BEIJING, June 16 (CEIS): World's Top 500 chemical producer BASF Group recently reached an agreement with the local Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Holding (Group) Company, to establish the world's largest MDI production base in Changshou District, Chongqing Municipality, southwestern China.
The new plant will start operation in 2010, with designed annual MDI production capacity of 400,000 tons.
MDI is used as a raw material for architecture thermal insulating layers, automobile instrument boards and aircraft chairs.
