Basic Bank Ltd donates Tk 10m to Bangabandhu Memorial Trust

Basic Bank Limited donated Tk 10 million to the Bangabandhu Memorial Trust Thursday, reports UNB.
Members of Board of Directors of the bank led by its Chairman Abdul Hye Bacchu handed over the donation cheque to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the morning.
The Prime Minister thanked Basic Bank for its donation, saying that everyone in society has to work hand in hand to remove the socio-economic problems of the mass people.
Sheikh Hasina recalled that she and Bangabandhu's younger daughter Sheikh Rehana had donated their paternal house at Dhanmondi-32 to the Trust and turned it into Bangabandhu Memorial Museum for the people.
"Since its establishment, Bangabandhu Memorial Trust has been playing a remarkable role in education and social welfare affairs," the Prime Minister said.
She further said the memorial trust is going to set up a hospital in Gazipur after the name of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, while it has introduced a stipend for meritorious students of the Sociology department of Dhaka University after the name of Sheikh Kamal and Sultana Kamal.
Besides, another stipend at the University Laboratory School after the name of Sheikh Russel has also been introduced.
Apart from this, she said the trust has been providing stipends to 1200 regular poor and meritorious students annually and financial support to those who were injured in the August 21 grenade attack.
