Bata Shoe holds prize distribution ceremony

Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd and Care Bangladesh are working together to help increase the income generating capacity of Rural women and create new job opportunities through the sale of Bata products offering door to door service under the 'Rural Sales Programme' in the rural areas of the country, says a press release.
Approximately 2,500 sales women will work in this partnership programme in 2009.
Nurul Islam, hub manager, Belkuchi hub, Sanjidul Islam Sidhu, hub manager, Senbagh hub, Fazlul Haque, hub manager, Dimla hub and Mominur Raliman, hub manager, Nilphamari hub were identified as the best sales performers for second, third, fourth quarters and every week purchaser of 2008 respectively.
JD Hearns, managing director, Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd. and Nick Southern, country director, Care Bangladesh jointly handed over special awards to them at the Bata office at Tongi at a simple ceremony.
Nick Southern with other personnel from Care and the award recipients also visited the merchandising department and the factory.
During their visit they were shown different footwear manufacturing operations in the Bata factory and they expressed their satisfaction at the quality of product and overall excellent environment existing at Bata.
MA Quader, marketing manager, M Habibur Rahman, head of Human Resources, Ruhul Amin, merchandising manager, Ziauddin Ahmed, acting wholesale manager, BR Begh, plant manager (Tongi) and Ekramuzzaman Chowdhuri, manager, Rural Sales Programme of Bata Bangladesh, Asif U Ahmed, economic empowerment coordinator (MMO), Shaikh Saif Al Rashid, technical coordinator, Corporate Engagement and RSP Economic Development Unit of Care Bangladesh, and other officials of both the organisation were present on the occasion.
