Batsman Shamsu to join Bangladesh squad in England

Monday, 17 May 2010

Uncapped batsman Shamsur Rahman is due to leave here for England tonight (Sunday night) to join the Bangladesh National Cricket team there as a back-up batsman due to injury to Tamim Iqbal, and sickness of captain Shakib Al Hasan, reports UNB.
Shamsur Rahman, a 21-year-old right-handed batsman, averaged 67, playing for Bangladesh A team in the recently concluded two-match four-day series against South Africa A. Due to injury of Tamim Iqbal and the sickness of national captain Shakib Al Hasan, who has been diagnosed with chickenpox, Bangladesh Team Management requested a batsman as a back-up and the Selection Committee thought Shamsu would be the right choice as he is comfortable batting anywhere in the top five.
