BB appoints new senior economic advisor

Bangladesh Bank (BB) appointed Faisal Ahmed as Senior Economic Advisor to the Governor, a central bank statement said Sunday.
"He will work for the Bangladesh Bank's financial sector development and reform agenda," it added.
Prior to this appointment, Ahmed served as the IMF Resident Representative in Cambodia during 2011 to 2015 and worked in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department at the IMF.
He was a core member of the IMF's emerging market surveillance team and led Technical Assistance missions on reserve and debt management.
Previously he worked as an actuary for a global reinsurance company for four years, a research economist for the Central Bank of Turkey and as a visiting scholar at the US Federal Reserve Bank.
Ahmed taught at the Royal School of Administration in Cambodia, the University of Minnesota, and at the South East Asian Central Banks Research and Training Centre (SEACEN).
Ahmed obtained PhD and an M A degrees in Economics from the University of Minnesota, an M Fin in Quantitative Finance from Princeton University while he is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
