BB Gov visits Japan Mint

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman on Monday morning visited Japan Mint during his Japan tour. Japan mint has minted 500 million pieces of 2 Taka coins in addition to 400 thousand silver coins commemorating 200 years of national museum of Bangladesh, said a central bank release. Japan Mint, an establishment of Japanese Government, was founded in 1871, shortly after the Meiji Restoration when Japan embarked on modernisation, minting coins and commemoratives for Japan and many other countries. The central bank Governor officially sealed the last container carrying the consignment of 2 Taka coins to Bangladesh. The Governor then visited various sections of the mint to see the process of minting coins. Finally the Governor handed over some commemorative coins and notes of Bangladesh to President of the Japan Mint Yoshiake Shinhara, according to a news agency.
