BB inks deal for installation of RTGS

Bangladesh Bank today (Thursday) signed a contract for installation of Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) System in Bangladesh with CMA Small Systems AB of Sweden."CMA is an experienced company which has installed more than 20 RTGS systems throughout the globe in 35 countries. We expect to complete the project within September 2015," BB Governor Atiur Rahman said in the signing ceremony. ADB provided financial support for implementing this RTGS. The BB Governor said: We are now working with the stakeholders using POS. We will also bring MFS providers into this Payment Switch. We have now 20 million MFS accounts. Mobile Financial Services were introduced for accommodating the unbanked strata of the society. RTGS will accommodate Bank’s own transactions, Customer transactions and Transaction of other sub systems (i.e. BACH, NPSB etc), said a BB statement.
