BB to continue to work for uplift of SME sector

Bangladesh Bank (BB) will give loan to promising small entrepreneurs in different parts of the country as a part of its plan to flourish small and medium enterprises, reports BSS.
BB recently held a meeting with SME officials of 32 private commercial banks for expansion of light engineering industry in Keraniganj.
Talking to the news agency general manager of SME and specialised programmes department of the central bank Md Masum Patwari said the BB has taken such initiatives to help flourish small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.
The main objective of this move is to give financial support to this sector, he added.
"We've selected Keraniganj first as a part of our initiative as this area has reputation to make mechanical parts," he said, adding that BB will look for promising small entrepreneurs here for giving financial support. Private commercial banks have also been ordered to work in Keraniganj, he added.
