B'baria customs, excise, VAT dept realises Tk 134.18m revenue

BRAHMANBARIA, July 24: The officials and employees of customs, excise and VAT departments of Brahmanbaria district realised a record amount of Tk 134.18 million (Tk 13.41 crore) revenue in 2006-2007 financial year.
The B'baria district comprises Sarail, Nasirnagar, Ashuganj, Akha ura, Kasba, Nabinagar, Banchharampur and Sadar upazilas for convenience of VAT collection from those areas. A target of Tk 131.97 million (Tk 13.19 crore) was fixed for realisation in the last fiscal year.
The revenue earning is more than Tk 2.21 million (Tk .22 crore) higher than that of 2005-2006 fiscal year, the customs sources said.
The customs office sources said 101.67 per cent revenue income in 2006-2007 fiscal year surpassed all previous records of the district.
The department earned Tk 17.52million from commodities sources, Tk 5.14 from nursing sources, Tk 110.99 from development sources and Tk 12.14 million from brickfield sources.
