BBS Cables leads DSE turnover chart

Ten cos account for 24pc transaction

Ten most traded firms accounted for more than 24 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Wednesday, with the BBS Cables making it to the top of the turnover chart.
Market analysts said investors showed their appetite for BBS Cables shares amid positive expectations as its earnings soared.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 8.02 for July 2018-March 2019 period as against Tk 5.84 for the period of July 2017-March 2018.
The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 5.15 for July 2018-March 2019 period as against Tk 0.93 for the period of July 2017-March 2018.
The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 28.29 as on March 31, 2019 and Tk 24.31 as on June 30, 2018.
According to the DSE data, about 2.55 million shares of BBS Cables were traded on Wednesday, generating a turnover of Tk 262 million, which was 5.01 per cent of the prime bourse's total turnover of Tk 5.22 billion.
The company's share closed at Tk 101.70 on the day, advancing 0.79 per cent over the previous day.
Its share traded between Tk 70.10 and Tk 139.20 in the last one year.
BBS Cables, listed on the DSE in July, 2017, disbursed 10 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.58 billion, authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion and the total number of securities is 158.70 million.
The sponsor-directors own 33.33 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 15.13 per cent, foreign investors 1.56 per cent and the general public 49.98 per cent as of April 30, 2019, the DSE data show.
The United Power came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 183 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 364.30 each, shedding 1.96 over the previous day.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 139 million changing hands. The state-run company's share price rose 1.0 per cent to close at Tk 51 each.
JMI Syringes emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 125 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 434.80 each, soaring 4.82 per cent.
Eastern Housing notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 114 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 56.10 each, advancing 3.89 per cent.
The turnover of National Life Insurance was Tk 107 million. The company's share closed at Tk 250.80 each, gaining 6.0 per cent over the previous day.
SK Trims Industries featured a turnover of Tk 99 million. The company's share price advanced 0.78 per cent to close at Tk 51.40 each.
The turnover of Singer Bangladesh was Tk 83 million. The company's share closed at Tk 186.30, advancing 2.53 per cent.
Doreen Power featured a turnover of Tk 80 million. The company's share price advanced 0.24 per cent to close at Tk 82.30 each.
BRAC Bank also made its way to the top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 77 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.37 per cent to close at Tk 64.60 each.
