Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and National Skills Development Council (NSDC) are jointly conducting a census of technical vocational education and training institutions across the country, aiming to depict the real scenario of the institutions. "We're conducting the census to know the real scenario of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions run by the government, private and non-government organisations across the country. Such census is being conducted for the first time in the country," Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said. The BBS, an agency of the Statistics and Informatics Division of the Planning Ministry, and NSDC, an agency of the Labour and Employment Ministry has jointly undertaken a programme in this regard. The Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions Census 2015 will be completed by December next starting in this (September) month. The census report will be published by December, the Minister informed. Now some 22 ministries, 18 government agencies, many private and non-government organisations are providing technical vocational education and training on various issues across the country. But the government has no specific statistics about the TVET institutions, Mustafa Kamal said. "Effective plans can be taken if we get detailed statistics about the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions," the Planning Minister said while speaking with reporters on Wednesday, according to a news agency.
