BCB announce Test Squad for Tour of England

Tuesday, 4 May 2010

Star pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza failed to impress the national selectors and they did not include his name as Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for two away tests against England in the city Monday, reports BSS.
However it was good news for the rookie paceman Robiul Islam who is the only uncapped player in the Bangladesh Test Squad for the Tour of England 2010.
The 23-year-old Khulna Division quick has been a prolific wicket-taker in domestic cricket and has represented the GP-BCB National Cricket Academy and the Bangladesh A Team.
"He brings in a lot of energy and has brisk pace. Robiul is strong and aggressive and we feel he can be a handy option in English conditions," said Chairman of Selectors Rafiqul Alam.
Robiul will head to England along with fellow seamers Shahadat Hossain, Mahbubul Alam and opening batsman Zunaed Siddiqui. The other members of the squad will fly directly to England at the end of Bangladesh's campaign in the ICC World T20 in the West Indies.
The players returning home are: Masrafe Bin Mortaza, Syed Rasel, Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Sorawordi.
Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mohammad Ashraful, Zunaed Siddiqui, Jahirul Islam, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim (Vice-Captain/Wicketkeeper), Naeem Islam, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Mahbubul Alam, Robiul Islam.
