BCB pays tribute to Manzur Ahmed

It is with deep sadness that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announces the passing away of its Chief Executive Officer Manzur Ahmed, reports BSS.
The 55-year old died Tuesday morning following a cardiac arrest in the city. His namaz-e-janazas were held at the Azad Mosque in Gulshan after Asr prayers and at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur later. He was then buried at the Banani Graveyard. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
BCB President AHM Mustafa Kamal paid his tribute to Manzur Ahmed saying, "This is a massive loss for Bangladesh cricket. Manzur Ahmed was a true gentleman and a hardworking and thoroughly honest professional. He had developed a wonderful reputation internationally and had initiated the process of many a work that would be beneficial to the development of the game in Bangladesh. We can only show our gratitude to him if we can complete his unfinished job."
BCB Director Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu said that he was one of the finest and most efficient CEOs in BCB. His passion for work was an example for everyone. He will be dearly missed by everyone.
Sports Minister M Ahad Ali Sarker, Chairman of Standing Committee of Youth and Sports of Jatiya Sangsad Zahed Ahsan Russell, Sports Secretary Mahbub Ahmed, BOA, BSJA, BSWA, BHF, BFF and a number of organisations paid rich tribute to the departed soul in separate messages.
Asian Cricket Council in a separate message said that the ACC has heard of the passing away of one of the game's true servants Manzur Ahmed, most recent CEO of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and formerly of the Brunei Cricket Association. A long-time ACC Executive Board Member, Mr Ahmed played more parts and held more positions in cricket than almost any other administrator in the world and was distinguished by his grace, integrity and good sense.
ACC added that they know that his family, friends and colleagues will feel his loss immensely. May his family find some solace and comfort in the knowledge of the great esteem in which Manzur Ahmed was held.
"I have lost a brother, a friend, a confidante and a fellow cricketer with whom I have enjoyed many fine days on and off the field," says ACC Chief Executive Syed Ashraful Huq.
Manzur Ahmed joined the BCB in August 2010 after serving as CEO of Brunei Darussalam Cricket Association for five years. He was an Executive Member of the Brunei Darussalam Cricket Association from 1996 to 2003 and was the cricket association's Development Manager from 2003 to 2005. He was a Member of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Executive Board.
