BARISHAL, May 16 (UNB): A case has been filed against ward-5 councillor of Barishal City Corporation for violating an 18-year- old with the promise of marriage.
Barishal Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Yarab Hossain took the case into cognizance on Monday and directed Police Bureau of investigation (PBI) to submit an investigation report in this regard within June 16, said Humayun Ahmed, bench assistant of the court.
The girl who passed the HSC exam this year lodged a complaint against ward councillor Kefayet Hossain Rony, said Azad Rahman, plaintiff's lawyer.
According to the complaint, around five months ago the girl got acquainted with Rony over a phone call.
From phone conversations the relationship between them became a love affair after Rony proposed her.
On May 7 afternoon, Rony called the plaintiff to his house saying he has something urgent to discuss and raped her promising that they will get married soon. He again raped her on May 8 in his house.
On May 12, as the girl pressurized Rony for marriage he beat her up and deleted all the evidence of their relationship from her phone.
As Rony started threatening the girl to kill she lodged the complaint against him, said her lawyer.
