Wednesday, 2 April 2014

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Maulana Bhasani Hall of Jahangirnagar University (JU) allegedly beat a general student inside his dormitory room on Tuesday. Witnesses said a group of BCL activists, led by JU unit sub-secretary on mass education Didarul Islam entered the room of Rezaul Karim Barshan, a student of Computer Science and Engineering Department, and beat him with iron rods, pipes and other home-made weapons. The assaulters also took away Barshan’s laptop and mobile phone set, said the witnesses. Seriously injured, Barshan was taken to JU Medical Centre and then shifted to a private clinic at Savar. Talking to journalists, Barshan said he was asleep when about 10 BCL men, led by Didar, attacked him in the morning. He filed a complaint with the hall office and the Proctor’s office, according to UNB.
