Wednesday, 5 May 2010

FE Report
Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) confined an ASI for two hours in a room at Jagannath University after the policeman had allegedly assaulted a senior BCL leader of the university in the morning.
BCL leaders alleged that ASI of Sutrapur Police Station, Saidul Islam, intercepted the running motorcycle of Masud Rana, vice-president of the BCL of the university unit, in front of Victoria Park and asked for his papers.
As Masud failed to show the documents, the officer had beaten him with sticks that left him injured. Later in the afternoon, around 20 to 25 BCL activists held Saidul and confined him at the proctor's room.
Kotwali thana Officer-in-Charge Salauddin Karim rescued the ASI at about 4:00pm after promising to take departmental action against him. But no action was taken against the BCL leader who was riding his motorcycle without having proper documents.
