Student wing of the ruling Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) has expelled 13 cadres of its Jahangirnagar University unit after a series of bloody clashes left at least 50 injured, reports bdnews24.com.
A press release signed by BCL central president Mahmud Hasan Ripon and general secretary Mahfuzul Haidar Chowdhury Roton made the announcement Monday evening.
Those tossed out of the organisation are Kazi Maruf Sajib, Bijoy Kumar Das, 'Parvez', Debabrata Prio Johnny, Ariful Haq, Khairul Bashar Shetu, Subhashish Kundu Tonyi, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Ujjal Kumar Das, 'Chayan', 'Shakal', 'Swadhin' and 'Palash'.
The BCL central working committee also suspended all activities of its Jahangirnagar University unit following the violent clashes over control of Al-Beruni Hall, with 12 student cadres flung off the roof of four-storey dormitory.
Jahangirnagar BCL committee's activities were suspended in February last year and replaced by a new committee on May 19.
However, it was a clash between the current general secretary and president of the new BCL unit.
