BCL factions clash at DU hall

Two rival factions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)’s Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall unit of Dhaka University (DU) have clashed over establishing supremacy in the dormitory compound. Witnesses said that the hour-long clash started around 11:30am on Thursday between the two BCL factions, one led by the hall unit BCL President Khadijatul Kobra and another led by General Secretary Sheikh Marufa Nabila. Students said that the followers of Khadijatul Kobra started chanting slogans inside the dormitory  compound from the morning demanding withdrawal of the expulsion of house tutor Sima Islam and also demanding resignation of Provost of the hall Professor Dr Sabita Rezwana Rahman. The two groups engaged in a clash around 11:30am when the followers of Nabila started chanting slogans in favour of the provost and took a counter position. Several students from both the factions were injured in the clash, according to a news agency.
