BCL, gang members attack Anti-discrimination Movement leaders in Kushtia

KUSHTIA, Dec 15 (UNB): Several leaders of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement have been injured in an attack allegedly by activists of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and members of a teen gang in Kushtia.
The incident took place on the Kushtia Municipality premises, where the student leaders had gathered to attend a pitha festival on Saturday night.
According to local sources, the victims included Mostafizur Rahman, the member secretary of the Kushtia district unit of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, along with joint convener Sayad Islam Shrestha, chief organiser MD Belal Hossain Badhon, and leader Humaira Kabir Sadia.
Around 30 to 40 people attacked the student leaders. The assailants, identified as BCL activists and members of the RD X Boys gang, were reportedly armed.
Several of the student leaders were injured during the attack.
Hasibur Rahman, the convener of the Kushtia District unit of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, condemned the assault, stating that the attack was pre-planned.
He urged the authorities to take action against the perpetrators.
