CHATTOGRAM, Feb 23: At least 15 students of Chittagong University were injured in clashes between two rival factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the campus area today.
Among the injured some were given first aid in the Chittagong Medical College Hospital. They are Milan, Shamim, Anis, Mahmudul, Mamun, Saddam, Arnab Islam, Imam, Abhoy and Sourav Talukder.
They are students of different faculties of the CU, police in the CMCH emergency department said.
The police said that former vice president of the now defunct BCL committee of the University Golam Rasul Nishat was allegedly abducted on Friday night in the Lalkhan Bazar area in the city while he was returning from a wedding festival.
He was later rescued by the police and was admitted to the hospital. Protesting the abduction his supporters staged demonstration at the CU gate 1 on Saturday morning. At that time they engaged in clashes with the BCL activists of "69 Group" that left the students from both groups injured.
