BCL leader arrested for \\\'violating\\\' schoolgirl

Police have arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from Baniachong Upazila in Habiganj district for allegedly violating a schoolgirl. The arrestee was identified as Samsul Alam, 35, vice-president of Kagapasha union unit of BCL and son of Akbar Chowdhury, a resident of Borohati village. Officer-in-charge of Baniachong Police Station Nirmulendu Chakrabarti said a police team launched a drive at the house of Samsul at Borohati under Kagapasha union on Saturday afternoon and arrested him. Quoting the victim’s family members, the OC said Samsul entered the room of the Class V girl of a government primary school in the village on Friday midnight and raped her when she was sleeping alone in her room. Samsul was arrested after the victim’s mother filed a case against Samsul with Baniachong Police Station on Saturday noon, the OC said. Later, the girl was admitted to Sadar Hospital, the OC added, according to UNB.
