BCL leader shot dead

A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League was killed and five other people were injured in a clash over playing a cricket match at Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Sunday night. The dead is Abu Noman, vice-president of Chandraganj union unit of Chhatra League and son of Abu Sufian of Bhairabnagar village. Police said an altercation took place between two groups over a cricket match organised between Amani Lakshmipur village and Basudouhita village at Hajipara in the upazila in the afternoon. As sequel to the altercation, a clash ensued between both the groups at around 8:00pm, where gunshots were fired during the clash, leaving Noman dead on the spot and six sustained bullet injuries who were admitted to different hospitals at Lakshmipur and Noakhali towns, according to UNB.
