BCL leader stabbed in Azimpur

Some miscreants stabbed a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader at China Goli in the city’s Azimpur area on Saturday night. The victim was identified as Gazi Abdul Malek, 30, assistant secretary of Dhaka south unit of BCL, student wing of the ruling party. An MBA student of Dhaka University, Malek is son of late Abdul Haque and a resident of Azimpur Government Staff Quarters. Locals said an altercation ensued between Malek and a gang of local terrorists, numbering 7/8, led by one Foysal at about 5:30pm while the gang was demanding Tk 10,000 as toll from Udbhas Coaching Centre in Azimpur. Later, the gangsters stabbed Malek at China Goli after 1 hour of the altercation, leaving him injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to a news agency.
