BCL leader\\\'s tendons severed

Miscreants chopped a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and cut off the tendons of his legs and hands in Chapainawabganj town on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Nahid Shikder, organising secretary of the district unit of the ruling Awami League’s student body and son of Abul Kalam Azad, a resident of Barik Bazar area in Shibganj upazila. Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Nahid came under attack by a group of miscreants near Nababganj Government College in the district town around 10:30 pm while he was retuning home. The attackers swooped on him and chopped him indiscriminately. At one stage, they severed the tendons of his two legs and two hands and fled the scene. Hearing Nahid’s screams, local people rescued him. He was first admitted to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, according to UNB.
