BCL man hacked to death

An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was hacked to death while another was injured by their rivals at Akhalia under Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet city on Monday night. The dead is M Abdullah, alias Kochi, 25, son of Sanju Mia, a resident of Baghbari in the city. Locals said an altercation ensued between the supporters of two rival groups over establishing dominance in Madina Market-Kalibari Road and Tomtom (human hauler) stand area in the city. At one stage, the supporters of one group, equipped with sharp weapons, attacked their rival group’s men near Dhopa Bridge around 9.00pm and stabbed its member Kochi and his associate Sony, 22, leaving them injured critically. Locals rescued them and rushed them to Osmani Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared Kochi dead, according to UNB.
