BCL man held on rape charge

Local leaders of Awami League-backed organisations have been accused of raping a schoolgirl in Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari, reports bdnews24.com.
Police arrested Md Sohel, president of upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), on charges of rape after a case was filed by the victim's mother on Tuesday.
Shahadat Hossain Titu, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighinala thana, said three more men have been arrested in connection with the crime.
According to a relative of the victim, the girl along with two of her brothers was returning home after attending a religious event in Dighinala Banbihar on Monday night.
On the way, four knife-wielding men tied up the victim's brothers and raped her.
Sohel was arrested from a tobacco field in the morning. OC Shahadat said, "Sohel has given names of his companions. We are trying to catch them."
