BCL men assault newsmen on DU campus

A group of unruly activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) assaulted journalists and looted their valuables on the Dhaka University campus Sunday.
A case has been filed against five BCL leaders and activists with Shahbagh police station in this connection.
The case statement said some 20 BCL men led by Wasim Jewel, environment affairs secretary of BCL DU unit, third-year student of English Department Roni, Ershad of History Department, Shamim and Tipu of Political Science Department assaulted them over a trifling matter.
Witnesses said the BCL activists got angry with several DU reporters as they asked them (BCL) to come in a queue while collecting lunch items from the DUCSU cafeteria.
The assaulted journalists are staff reporters Arup Kumar Saha of Jaijaidin, Habibullah Mizan of New Nation, DU correspondents Mazharul Anwar Shipu of Janakantha, Khomenee Ihsan of Banglabazar Potrika, Palash Sarkar of Jaijaidin and Anu Anwar of Prothom Alo.
