BCL men lock exam room at RU

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, May 13: The activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University (RU) locked an examination room at the Islamic History and Culture Department .
The academic committee of the Islamic History department decided to take examination for the students of the master's batch Tuesday.
But some BCL activists led by vice president Rana Chowdhury came to the department office and demanded stoppage of the examination due to illness of Mehedi, another vice president of BCL. But the authorities denied their demand and decided to hold the examination.
At one stage, the unruly BCL men locked the examination room of the department. Even they threatened the examinees who came to appear at the examination.
History department head Dr Sayeda Nure Khaseda Khatun told newsmen that some BCL men demanded to stop the examination. But we can not stop the examination for one student, she said.
RU proctor Prof Tariqul Hasan said all necessary steps would be taken to hold the next examinations.
