RAJSHAHI, Apr 8 (UNB): Four days after enforcing an indefinite strike demanding punishment to the killers of Bangladesh (BCL) leader Rustam Ali Akand, Rajshahi University (RU) unit of BCL, Tuesday postponed it until April 29.
RU BCL unit general secretary Towhid Al Tuhin announced the decision at a press briefing on the campus Tuesday.
Towhid said the strike was postponed considering the sufferings of students.
BCL RU unit president Mizanur Rahman Rana had announced the strike from a rally on the campus earlier Friday, organised immediately after the killing of the BCL Shahid Suhrawardy Hall unit joint-general secretary Rustom Ali.
Rustom Ali, a student of the Political Science Department, was shot dead by miscreants in his room at Shahid Suhrawardy Hall at around 1:30 pm Friday.
Later on Sunday, a case was filed against Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) RU unit president and 12 others in connection with the killing.
BCL RU unit vice president Mehedi Hasan filed the case with Motihar Police Station in the city.
Ziauddin Bablu, publicity affairs secretary of RU unit Shibir, rejected the allegation of the killing against its president.
