BCS Digital Expo opens today

The 3rd annual BCS Digital Expo-2011 begins today (Wednesday) in the city, aiming to create awareness about the use of latest ICT technology among the youths. Agriculture minister Motia Chowdhury is expected to inaugurate the five-day-long event, which will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) in association with ICT Ministry and ICT Promotion Council of Commerce Ministry is organising the show with the theme of 'Digital Bangladesh for New Generation'. Around 66 local and foreign ICT service providers will showcase their products at 73 stalls of 29 pavilions at the show. The main focus of the year's fair is youths who are the main user and promoter of information technology. The fair will remain open for all from 10:00am to 8:00pm with an entry fee of Tk 20 per person except for the first day, which will be opened at 5:00pm and will continue till 9:00pm. School children with ID card are exempted from the fee. Commerce minister Muhammad Faruq Khan, information minister Abul Kalam Azad and ICT minister Architect Yeafesh Osman will also be present in the inaugural programme of the event, with BCS president Mostafa Jabbar in the chair.
