FE Report | Sunday, 8 March 2009
'BCS Digital Expo 2009' will be held at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre in the city on March 25-28 to showcase BCS digital technology and products.
Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) in cooperation with ICT Business Promotion Council of the Ministry of Science and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) will organise the four-day event, said BCS president Mustafa Jabber at a press conference Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the exhibition as the chief guest on March 25, the BCS president said.
The theme of this year's fair is 'Towards a digital Bangladesh'.
The main objectives of the exhibition are to provide the country's computer and IT industry with an overview to develop new alternate sources of supplies, make new contacts, discover new opportunities of the sub-sector and to capitalise on them, Mustafa Jabber said.
BCS expects that a large number of national and international companies and organisations will participate in the fair to demonstrate their products and services, said Shahid -Ul- Munir, convener of the fair committee.
He also said a total of 50 stalls, four mini stalls and 15 pavilions will be set up at the fair venue for the participants.
"More than 50 local and foreign exhibitors are expected to participate in the country's first digital exhibition to display the country's nascent software and computer market potential to local and international players in the field," the convener said.
There will also be seminars on relevant and recent topics during the fair. Symposia, product launches, competition and contests will be running side by side with the showcase of products and services, Mr. Shahid added.
The fair will remain open from 10am to 8pm daily for all people with Tk 20 entry fee. BCS has fixed Tk 40 for season ticket and offered 50 per cent reduction on online ticket.
