Commerce Minister Faruk Khan has asked the local IT entrepreneurs to venture into the manufacturing of computer hardware and machineries to explore the country's further potential in ICT.
"Now can be the time to tap into the hardware manufacturing alongside software", the commerce minister said at the closing ceremony of annual BCS ICT World 2009 in the city.
"Utilizing our talented human resource pool in ICT both at home and abroad and the experience gained in the software export, the local entrepreneurs can possibly venture into the PC hardware manufacturing as well", he added.
Faruk's remark came at a time when the IT industry in Bangladesh is in a transition, with the software industry lately showing some signs of promise in the international market and the export from the sector is expected to boom in the coming years.
