BCSA to procure 106m jute sacks from BJMC

Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) will provide 106 million jute sacks worth Tk 4.44 billion to the Bangladesh Cold Storage Association (BCSA) by December 31 this year, reports UNB.
BJMC and BCSA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard on Sunday at the conference room of the Textiles and Jute Ministry at secretariat.
BJMC secretary Saleh Uddin and BCSA first vice-president Dr Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
After the signing ceremony, Faizur Rahman Chowdhury, secretary of the Textiles and Jute Ministry, said as per the Mou, price of each jute sack has been fixed at Tk 42.
He said the MoU was signed as part of the government initiative to turn the BJMC into a profitable organisation.
Currently, 285 types of jute goods are being exported to different countries and the government has taken initiatives to boost export of jute products to European countries through developing internal market management, he said.
Meanwhile, the drives by mobile courts will continue to enforce jute packaging law, the secretary added.
