BCU protests harassment to Baul singers

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSTIY, Apr 18, (BSS): Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU), Jahangirnagar University Unit, today formed a human chain on the university premises protesting against harassment to Baul singers at Rajbari. Speaking on the occasion, participants blamed some fundamentalists for harassing the Baul singers by cutting their hair and beard and said they were out to destroy the indigenous culture of the country. They urged the youths to promote the indigenous culture and called for bringing the culprits to book. The function was addressed, among others, by acting president of BCU JU unit Mahi Mahfuz, general secretary Hasan Akhter Sina and organizing secretary SJ Dip and Aditto Shubro.
