BD a role model for UN dev campaign: Xu

Bangladesh has become a role model for the United Nations (UN) to be showcased for its excellent development performance and success in poverty alleviation, says a visiting UN official in Dhaka on Sunday. Haoliang Xu, Assistant Administrator and Director for the Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, UNDP came up with the remark during a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the latter’s office.  Xu commended the political commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in poverty alleviation, women empowerment and natural disaster risk reduction, said a Foreign Ministry media release, according to a news agency.
