BD allows 2,450 tonnes of Hilsa export to India ahead of Durga Puja

The government has allowed export of highest 2,450 tonnes of Hilsa, a popular fish in Bangladesh, to India ahead of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Hindu community.
The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) on Sunday gave special permissions to 49 trading firms against 64 applications submitted to the concerned department of the ministry until August 2022. Each trading firms will be able to ship 50 tonnes of Hilsa.
The permission will remain effective until September 30, 2022, the MoC said.
During shipments, traders have to follow the Export Policy-2021-24 and physical examination must be completed by the customs authority concerned.
The permission is not transferable and exporters who received the nod can only export the fish.
