BD can be economic power in S Asia: Tanaka

President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka on Monday said Bangladesh will be the economic power in South Asia soon if it can strengthen regional cooperation, expand the garment industry and ensure formal industrialisation. He made the remark while addressing a special lecture on ‘JICA’s Strategy: Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt (BIG) and Beyond’ at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University. Tanaka observed that Bangladesh may face challenges in the coming days in developing power sector, taking effective and time-befitting strategy, creating employment opportunities and establishing good governance for its socioeconomic development, according to a news agency.
