BD Championship League begins in city Monday

The Premier Bank Bangladesh Championship League will begin in Dhaka Monday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium with Uttar Baridhara SC taking on Beani Bazar SC in the opening match at 4 pm, reports UNB.
Seven teams-Uttar Baridhara SC, Beani Bazar SC, Agrani Bank Club, Victoria SC, Wari Club, Chittagong Abahani, and Cox's City Club-will take part in the three-month long 2nd tier of the Bangladesh Professional Football League.
The first phase encounters, except the inaugural match, will be played at the Bir Shreshta Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur of the capital while the second round matches will take place at the Cox's Bazar Stadium.
Premier Bank became the title sponsor of the league providing Tk 2 million while Destiny Group has been named as co-sponsor providing Tk 1.2 million, in addition to regular football sponsor Grameenphone.
BFF Vice President and league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy disclosed the details of the league at a press conference at the BFF House Thursday afternoon.
BFF President Kazi M Salahuddin, Director of the league sponsor Premier Bank Imran Iqbal, Premier Bank managing director Majedur Rahman, BFF members Harun-ur-Rashid, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury MP, Anwarul Haque Helal and Fazlur Rahman Babul were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) signed a contract with Premier Bank for title sponsorship. The logo of the league was unveiled on the occasion.
