BD cos receive orders worth $153m in Canada expo

Twenty Bangladeshi companies, which participated in an exhibition in Canada recently, received spot orders worth US$ 153 million of their products, reports UNB.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in cooperation with Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa and Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, a TPO of the Canadian Government, jointly organised the 3rd Bangladesh Solo Exhibition in Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), Toronto from May 26-28.
Thirty-seven companies including EPB, Bangladesh set up their booths in the show to display their products and services of international standard.
Participating companies' products put on display included woven and knit garments, jute and leather products and light engineering items.
Nine participating companies of the exhibition received spot orders worth $ 1.0 million.
Items that received spot orders included shorts, denim pants, jacket, sweat shirt, jute products and leather ladies' bag.
Eleven companies received prospective orders amounting to $ 53.00 million on the items like garment, leather and light engineering products.
TFO, Canada also organised a day-long seminar in MTCC on May 25 titled 'Export to Canada' where resource persons from TFOC and Canadian customs presented the key-note papers on how to enter business with the Canadian companies.
Duty-free market access and rules of origin criteria were discussed in detail. A very interactive session was also held in the seminar.
