Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Tuesday the ongoing conflict in Myanmar was their internal affairs and Bangladesh did not want to engage in war with anyone, reports BSS.
"Efforts are still going on to solve the Rohingya repatriation crisis internationally . . . Not only Myanmar, Bangladesh doesn't want to engage in war with anyone," Quader, also ruling Awami League (AL) general secretary, told a media briefing at the AL Central office of Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
He added: "Myanmar has no dispute with us. It is our decision to solve any problem through discussion."
Referring to some 54 ethnic communities in Myanmar, the minister said it was the conflict of other groups with their army and they had already taken control of various places of Myanmar but there "is no dispute with us".
He said if there arises any issue of Myanmar's conflict with Bangladesh, then Bangladesh government would draw the attention of the United Nations and other international forums as the UN will have a role to play.
The minister said, "What is happening on the Myanmar border is their internal matter. Their internal conflict spills over to the border as well. Even shells, mortar shells are falling here leaving two Bangladeshi nationals killed."
