BD earn 2nd successive win beating S\\\'pore by 2-0

Hosts Bangladesh earned 2nd consecutive victory in Pool B match of the Islami Bank Asian Games Hockey Qualifiers beating formidable Singapore by 2-0 goals at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium Tuesday, reports UNB.
With the day's result, Bangladesh top the Pool B list with all-win record securing full six points from two matches after beating Hong Kong 5-1 in the first match while Singapore remained at three points from two outings beating Iran 3-2 in their first match, both played on Sunday.
After a barren first half in the day's 2nd match, Pushkor Khisha Mimo and skipper Mamunur Rahman Chayan scored one goal each for the home team.
Bangladesh came close to score in the very 4th minute of the match, but a placing shot of Pushkor Khisha Mimo, off a Sheikh Md. Nannu push, narrowly missed the target.
In the 21st minute, Singapore midfielder Elifh Abdul Latifh went through the Bangladesh defense, but his fierce hit was blocked by Bangladesh goalie Ashim Gope.
In the 33rd minute, Bangladesh forward Krishna Kumar Das saw his powerful hit miss the side post in a one to one situation with Singapore goalie A Suresh. A few minutes earlier, Suresh denied Bangladesh drag and flick specialist Mamunur Rahman Chayan with a superb save.
Forward Krishna Kumar put Bangladesh ahead in the 40th minute by an angular hit from the left flank with his solo effort beating Suresh with an upward push (1-0). Later, Krishna Kumar Das was adjudged the man of the match.
In the 49th minute, penalty corner specialist cum Bangladesh captain Mamunur Rahman Chayan doubled the margin from the team's 4th penalty corner, taken by Nannu and stopped by Sarwar (2-0).
Bangladesh will play Iran in their 3rd and last group encounter tomorrow (Thursday) while Singapore will face Hong Kong on the same day at the same venue.
