BD holds high prospect to be economic hub: ICCB

Tuesday, 14 July 2015

The geographical location between three major sub-regions of Asia - South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia - provides a unique opportunity for Bangladesh to become regional economic hub, according to the editorial of the current ICCB News Bulletin of International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh (ICCB) released on Tuesday. In the editorial comment, ICCB said the proximity of Bangladesh to the three sub-regions would also offer the country to take advantage from cross-border movement of goods and services and investment flows. The global chamber, however, said Bangladesh should address three key issues to transform its geographical advantage to become the regional economic hub. The three key issues include developing a deep sea port to emerge as the transportation hub in the South Asian region, establishing energy cooperation with Bhutan, Nepal, India and Myanmar and setting up of more economic and industrial zones, according to a news agency.
