BD, India working together to ensure transit facilities: Pankaj

LALMONIRHAT: Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran Sunday said both Bangladesh and India are working together to ensure transit facilities for businesspeople for the smoother functioning of their export and import.
He came up with the remark at an opinion-exchange meeting here after visiting the Land Customs Stations of Burimari-Changrabandha (Bangladesh-India).
The Indian diplomat also hoped that transit facilities will soon be implemented, and mentioned that Indian investment in Bangladesh is increasing gradually.
Bhutanese Ambassador Pema Choden, Nepalese Ambassador in Dhaka Hari Kumar Shrestha and Director (South Asia wing) at the Foreign Ministry Zahid-ul-Islam were also present.
Earlier, heads of diplomatic missions of three South Asian countries stationed in Dhaka started their four-day tour from Dhaka to India, Bhutan and Nepal to explore the importance of sub-regional cooperation in such crucial areas as trade, transit, border infrastructure and connectivity, according to a news agency.
