BD joins GCERF governing board

The Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) was launched in Geneva on Tuesday to support local community-level initiatives in the areas of education, youth, women’s advocacy, public awareness and aimed at strengthening resilience against violent extremist agenda. It is expected that GCERF’s core funding will be made available for projects in Bangladesh (along with Mali, Morocco and Nigeria) at the initial phase. The first meeting of the Governing Board of the GCERF was held in Geneva on 17-18 November to take decisions on the operating modalities of the Fund. The Bangladesh delegation to the meeting was led by Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque who was selected a member of the 15-member Governing Board of the GCERF, according to a news agency.
