BD makes remarkable progress in IT: Mahathir

Praising the policy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the digitisation process of Bangladesh, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has said the country has made remarkable progress in the field of information technology (IT). He opined comprehensive plan comprised with new policy and technology would help Bangladesh towards the journey of development. The father of the modern Malaysia made the remarks while Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu met with him at his office in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on Monday. The former prime minister of Malaysia said democracy would be sustainable if the national interest is prioritised in all aspects. Mahathir hoped Right to Information Act will help increase the esteem of the people of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek stressed the need for updating the MoU, signed 30 years ago for the cooperation in media sector between the two countries. He gave emphasis to updating the MoU that was inked in 1980s, during a meeting with Information Minister Inu on Monday afternoon. Inu made a call on with Malaysian Minister at Cyberjaya, Selangor. Inu reached Kuala Lumpur on a 3-day official visit on Sunday, according to BSS.
