WASHINGTON DC, Oct 06: Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir has said Bangladesh might disclose details of the reserve heist probe report if anyone wants to know about it on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
"We may not have to make any deliberation on the issue at the meetings. If anyone asks on the sidelines, we'll let them know the probe details," he told the FE Thursday in a stopover at Dubai airport on way to United States.
He was asked if there is any possibility to be asked about the incident of US$ 101 million cyber heist during the annual event of the WB and IMF.
Mr Kabir is one of the members of Bangladesh official delegation, led by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, to the annual meetings to be held in Washington D.C. on October 8-9.
Mr Muhith had pledged to make the report public on September 22, but cancelled on the day before due to requests by the law minister and attorney general on excuse that it might upset the ongoing process of recovery of the money.
Earlier, he wanted to release the report before leaving for Washington apparently to avoid being questioned during the World Bank-IMF event.
Replying to a question, the BB governor said CID (Criminal Investigation Department of Police) grilled some of the central bank officials during the last several months. "I've transferred many of them already. Further actions will be taken based on CID's forensic report."
Following the cyber heist of Bangladesh Bank's reserve with US Fed in February last, the government formed an official probe body, which submitted the final report to the finance minister in May this year.
